Nvidia’s New RTX GPU’s: How good really are they for gaming?

Nvidia’s GeForce products are packed with new innovations, made for gamers. The RTX 30 series cards are built with new second generation RTX architecture, But how good really are they for gaming and day to day use?

Lowered hash rate for mining.

In February Nvidia announced that all RTX 3060 cards will ship with a reduced hash rate for Ethereum mining to help get the cards into the hands of gamers. With this their new RTX GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards also have their hash rate halved.

RTX Technology.

With the released GeForce RTX cards comes with their new technology “Real-time ray tracing eXtreme”. RTX is a high end professional visual computing platform that is an Ai-powered DDLS frame rate booster.

RTX Technology is primarily used for designing complex large scale models in architecture and product design, scientific visualization, energy exploration, and film and video production, HOWEVER has also been optimized to use for gaming. With video games relying on directed lighting and computer calculated contrition for rendering, RTX can also now generate interactive images that react to lighting, shadows and reflections.

RTX 3090 8K HDR

Nvidias new RTX 3090 is the worlds first graphics card to allow you to play, watch and capture in 8K HDR, With 16x more pixels than 1080p you receive a whole new experience of gaming excellence.

GeForce Experience

GeForce Game Ready Drivers deliver the best experience for your favourite games. They’re finely tuned in collaboration with developers and extensively tested across thousands of hardware configurations for maximum performance and reliability. Game Ready Drivers also allow you to optimize game settings with a single click and provide you with the latest NVIDIA technologies.

RTX 30 series VS RTX 20 series

The newer RTX cards are built with GDDR6X technology, compared to its little brother counterpart “GDDR6” which is in the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 & RTX 2070, RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Ti.
GDDR6X is a significant performance upgrade to GDDR6. It has a 21 GB/s per pin data rate, an 84 GB/s device bandwidth, and a 1 TB/s system bandwidth – an increase of almost 43% in comparison to GDDR6.
RTX 3080 vs RTX 2080ti
To no surprise the RTX 3080 is said to be twice as powerful as the RTX 2080ti with a 20% boost in performance, however is seen to be a lot higher than that. The RTX 2080 Ti comes with more memory and a slightly larger memory interface width, but it’s using GDDR6 video memory, whereas the RTX 3080 has faster GDDR6X VRAM. And that means it has a better memory speed and bandwidth. It also has a faster boost clock speed and double the CUDA cores, all of which help explain its hike in performance.

Should you invest in one of the new RTX cards?

RTX might have been above the expected and comfortable price range but, in 2022, RTX appears to have found its place, in terms of both performance and price. In conclusion, we can confidently say that they are most definitely worth their prices.
